Even though I am a happy girl, the reality is that I can’t feel well every day. There are times when I need ways to lift myself. I have eight ways to cheer myself up when I feel low. These techniques help me get my mindset to a better place.
You can keep these ideas handy so that you remember what to do if you find yourself in this situation. These ways can put a smile on your face.
Clean & Declutter

Although decluttering is not fun, I find them beneficial to cheer myself up and reduce stress. I feel uneasy when my home is messy or I have many belongings in small spaces. I take the time to declutter.
Decluttering helps me get rid of what I no longer need or want around. It is good for the look of my home. I feel more organized when my spaces and belongings are in order. I pull myself out of a low mood by taking care of my personal areas and where I live.
I feel proud for tackling this project.
Indulge in Sweets

OK, not an ideal way but I do indulge in my favorite sweets, typically ice-creams, when I feel low. Whenever I need a boost, I enjoy a treat (and try not to feel guilty about it later). Chocolate is my go-to too.
Chocolate is delicious; the dark one, in particular, also has several health benefits. I eat it as a bar.
Journal & Consider
When I have a lot on my mind, it makes me feel stressed out. If I need cheering up because I feel low, then I contemplate. I use my journal to write down happy memories or to think through what I am grateful for.

I find quiet reflecting a great way to problem-solve. It helps me start thinking about how I can move ahead instead of dwelling in the past. I remember what is going well in my life to help cheer myself up.
Listen to Upbeat Music
An excellent way I boost my mood when I feel low is to listen to upbeat music. Songs out there put a smile on my face almost instantly. I put my music up loud to relieve stress. It is relaxing to sing along to the lyrics and let myself go without any judgment.
I forget about whatever was bothering me earlier.
Message A Friend

If I feel low, then I text a friend. I know, I know, calling is better than messaging, but I am not really the calling kinds. And my friends have accepted that. In fact, if I call them, they will be shocked!
Friends are the outlet when I want to share what is going on in my life or need advice. I message someone who I trust. I feel better after getting whatever is bothering me off my mind. It usually ends with us reminiscing about the past, making me cheerier.
Chatting about my problems helps relieve stress I am feeling. I feel much more optimistic about my future.
Practice Self-Care

Taking care of myself is a useful way to feel better fast. I cheer myself up when I feel low by practicing much-needed self-care. What I do varies. I take a walk around my condominium. I read a book.
I stretch. Or, I meditate. Making time for myself is necessary; it is an excellent and proven way to boost my mood and outlook. I start to feel low when I have not made time for myself or have been running around.
I use self-care as an outlet for turning my energy around for the better.
Spend Time Outdoors

When I feel low, I spend time outdoors. I take in the sights that surround me. Being outside in nature makes me feel calm. I enjoy the outdoors by going for a walk. As I work from home, I must get outside for a change of scenery.
Watch A Funny TV Show or A Movie
Sometimes, all I need when I feel low is a laugh. I watch a funny TV show or movie. There are many options; I do not have trouble finding one that makes me smile. Laughter is a medicine; it quickly boosts my outlook.
I curl up on the couch with a snack. I enjoy having some relaxation time. I don’t have to think about my life or worries. I am watching F.R.I.E.N.D.S. these days (yes, I know I am late to the party); it instantaneously cheers me up!
