Hello there, I've a tale to tell
On reaching home, we rang no bell.
Who would be home, we thought
When we'd well & truly the door locked.
To our horror, we found
Nuts on the table in a mound.
We saw the culprit soon enough
Ants in chaos, we'd called their bluff
They'd risen from the cracks in the tiles
And marched in orderly files.
They climbed the mighty legs of the chair & table
How they managed to open the jar can be a fable.
We sprung into combat mode
Into the ant battlefield, we rode.
N salvaged the nuts & aired them out
While I vacuumed the ants in a frantic bout.
A little part of me didn't feel good
After all, they were just foraging for food.
I would love ants in farms & forests
But, in my house, they're unwelcome guests.
