Winter is my favourite season. The only wish of mine that remains unfulfilled is ‘if only it snows in NCR’! I can take the freezing chilly weather. Don’t get me wrong; I feel cold, but I love it. Much better than sweating in the horrid summer!

So, yes, the cold never bothers me. On the contrary, I believe winter is the only tolerable season in India. Peak winter is also the time when there are no mosquitoes. Yaayyy! I’m a total mosquito magnet; so, good riddance!

The one time I have braved a winter windchill beyond my capacity was in Leh. I was visiting the Hall of Fame there. As I had gone during the daylight hours, I had worn just a thin shawl. But then, I sat down to watch the Light & Sound Show.

As the evening progressed, and the Sun went down, and the wind picked up, I began to shiver. Soon, that shivering turned into a chest pain. The Show had already started, and I found it disrespectful to get up in between.

My woollen was in the cab. Unfortunately, my phone was not working. I couldn’t contact driver bhaiya to bring my cardigan to me. I sat there bravely. The winter windchill pierced my body. It began an ache that I had never before experienced.

Anyhow, returning to the topic, it, of course, does not get cold like that here in NCR. I love the sunny days when it is crisp outside. I equally love the foggy days. All I want to do is switch on the blower and sit cozy under my blanket.

I like the still nights of winter. When, even as early as 9 PM, things get deathly quiet, and roads turn empty. Even at home, you get prompted to wrap up early and sleep. Winter is the only time when I achieve my sleep goal.

Winter is a time when all my senses are engaged. My eyes love seeing the fog. My ears love the silence. My nose loves the smell of roasted peanuts and sesame. My taste buds love the taste of hot chocolate. And my skin loves the sensation of warm water…

My heart is at total peace in winter…
