What Women Want

Breaking Free!

I can’t really speak for all women,
Or for all girls either, really.
But I can speak for myself,
And I shall today, well and freely.

I want not to be judged,
I want not to be made to carry
The weight of expectations,
Of all those around me.

I want to have a good time,
Without looking over my shoulder.
I want to shake off the stress,
And not feel constricted by that boulder.

I want my fantasies to run free,
As much as I want to create an impact.
I want my voice to be heard,
Yes, I do have one; please accept it as a fact!

I want us not to regress.
Strides that were made,
Must not stagnate.
Only upwards from here, let it be said!

Oh wait! They tell me,
The women around me that is.
That they want the same.
I do speak for all women then, I guess.
