You’ve to be living under a rock if you’ve not heard of Stranger Things. Season 4 just wrapped up & I can safely say I love this series. TBH, the horror/ mystery/ suspense/ thriller genre is one of my favourites; so that’s a given.
But there are many other, well, strange things that I like about this series.
Lack of Panic
There is a sense of panic only in Season 1 when Will disappears. After that, in none of the seasons, none of the episodes, the main protagonists have no sense of panic at all.
They’re always in a logical, problem – solving mode. & I love that! I wish the real world was more like that too (than about hyperventilating).

Dusty-bin Lookalike!
No OTT Acting
The acting is so, so good. Surprisingly good because, honestly, I’d not heard of any of the actors apart from Winona Ryder & Amybeth McNulty (in S4). But each one of them is OUTSTANDING!
Max’s nonchalance, Robin’s goofiness, One’s coldness & manipulation, Dr. Brenner’s persistence, Argyle’s zoned out-ness & so many, many more!
Every actor has infused their personality into their characters. When you see the series, you’ll be unable to say that any two actors/ characters are the same!
Family – Friendly Watch
There’s hardly anything on TV these days that you can actually sit & watch with family. I love how Stranger Things doesn’t have (any extra) explicit content. Well, apart from THAT Jopper scene in S4!

Turning our worlds Upside Down!
Addictive
It’s not easy to get me hooked. Specially if a show is running on & on. But Stranger Things is one of the only two series (the other being DARK) that I’ve waited for & seen as soon as it dropped.
I’ll definitely add, though, that I hope the Duffer Brothers complete Stranger Things before it becomes a drag. (P. S. There is a S5 and that may be the last one!)
Nostalgia
The show is set in the 1980s. Everything in the show has been beautifully fit into the 80s mould. Not for a moment you feel that it’s a contemporary series made in the new millennia.
It’s a fine travel back in time!
Jim Hopper
Hot or hot?!
Full disclosure – I was a fan of Hopper even before he lost weight & became a lean, mean, Demogorgan – fighting machine in S4. His restrained behaviour through all the seasons, struggling with his own demons, & yet trying to move on – this really added to his appeal.
David Harbour has done a fantastic job playing Jim Hopper!
There are obviously all the usual reasons too why I love this show – plot, ease of watching, character quirks (Erica’s sassiness anyone?), the brilliant cinematography of Upside Down etc. but if I don’t mention the strange things, will I even be doing justice to Stranger Things?
