There are so many misconceptions about HR it is not even funny. Unfortunately, people usually do not even try to get an alternate perspective on this, unless they watch it up, close & personal… My husband had the same fallacies about HR! But his outlook changed once he realized what I did for a living. Thank you for being open-minded partner…
It is a shame people think HR folks do not work. If they did not, you would not be where you are today… They recruited you, trained you, helped in your performance & potential appraisals, engaged you, helped you achieve your career path, & also bid you farewell with a heavy heart when the time came!
Another fallacy I come across is HR folks can do anything they want. This could not be farther from the truth… They need to ensure they take the right steps & say the right things because they know they are being watched; & they know they need to practice before they preach!
Lastly, to all the men in HR, I am sure, at some point in life; you have been told “But HR is a girl’s field”. Thanks for having the conviction that HR is a gender-neutral field; & kudos to you for putting up with such inanities…
People are in HR as they have a flair for it. And they love what they do… HR does not stand for Human Resources; it stands for “HR Rocks”!
