The morning sky was not blue

The fog screened the horizon

The sun did not appear at noon

The afternoon had a mist about it…

The evening came quietly,

Bringing with it a wind that chilled the bones

& then the night descended

The night I thought of you…

The night I felt away from you

The night my world fell apart

The night no amount of remembering the great moments helped

The night I felt I’d lost you forever…

The night I was angry with myself

The night my heart broke to pieces I couldn’t collect again

The night I hated myself for doing this to me all over again

The night I felt helpless & weak…

The night I realized I had made a habit of losing

The night I needed you, wanted you

The night I longed to dance with you

The night I needed your arm around my shoulder…

The night memories made the heart scream out

The night tears kept me warm

That was the night

The night it rained…
